South Korean boyband JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong is gearing up to resume his Japanese activities.
On December 1 last year, Kim opened his official fan club, JAEFANS, in Japan and announced that he will be active in the music industry again. For his first event, he hosted a fan club event in Tokyo on February 1 this month and his resumption of activities was known to local reporters and fans.
Kim plans to focus in singing first. On April 1, 2018, he will be on stage to headline the third ‘TOKYO GIRLS MUSIC FES. 2018’ in Yokohama Arena. The organizers chose Kim for his new life as a member of JYJ and as an actor who matches the theme of the event, ‘Be Yourself’.
Kim said, “As a headliner, I will perform a number of songs. I won’t take it for granted and will try hard this year.” As he started his activities in Japan again, Kim is showing an attitude for turning over a new leaf. He is intensively studying for his Japanese.
He is working on a new album release in Japan and he is in the process of producing it, as well as willing to act in a local TV series or movie. Kim made his debut in the Japanese TV series Sunao ni Narenakute (Hard to Say I Love You) which broadcast on Fuji TV in 2010.
The free fan club event on February 1 this month had gathered over 2,300 members. It is extremely rare for a Hallyu celebrity to host a free fan event in Japan. Kim had prepared this event to show his gratitude to his fans as he returns to Japan after eight years. Mainstream media such as Nikkan Sports and Asahi had noted Kim’s actions which show his unchanging popularity.
